Revelation
In Matthew 16:15 Jesus asked his disciples, Whom say ye that I am? Out of all of his disciples it was Simon Peter who correctly answered, 16 Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. They all had spent time with Jesus, but it was Peter who answered boldly, "Thou art the Christ." I believe Jesus was teaching his disciples a lesson on Revelation when he first asked them 13 Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?
He was teaching his disciples to look at Him from the perspective of a disciple (learner), not a common man. Jesus' lessons to them were taught with a demonstration of the spirit and power of God. They saw him heal the sick, raise the dead, open blinded eyes and save the lives of those who were lost.
In his relationship with his disciples Jesus had revealed himself to them as the Messiah (the anointed one). This revelation came through relationship (revelation means to uncover or unveil). The Word of God has declared in John 1:1, In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2The same was in the beginning with God. 3All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 14And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
It was Peter’s revelation of Christ that led Jesus to say in Matthew 16:17 Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
I believe that Peter received revelation from the Father because of his faith in Jesus. The Father gives revelation to those who are willing to operate in faith. That revelation which is received from the Father is as a key to kingdom living. Jesus said to Peter 19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
When one has received a key of revelation, access to kingdom principles are granted. Revelation can open the door to the supernatural. This key of revelation was demonstrated in the life of Peter in Matthew 14: 22 And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away. 23And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone. 24But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary. 25And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. 26And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. 27But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. 28And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. 29And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.
Peter's confession to Christ was "if it be thou, bid me to come unto thee on the water." In other words he was saying at your word I’ll walk the water to come to you. Peter had received revelation of the power that was in the words of Jesus.
When we’ve received revelation of the word of God all boundaries are broken, that which limited us in the past has to cease, we begin to operate in another realm of the spirit. It’s our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and revelation of The Word of God which opens the door to kingdom living with a demonstration of the spirit and power of God.
